More and more campaigns are being rolled out to save our nature. More consumers are being health-conscious not only for their own consumption but also for their pets. As I mentioned, to my previous post “Why Companies and Consumers Should Go Green?”. A healthy environment would result in a healthy life. Everyone is doing their best to contribute to a healthier environment.
Here are some examples of plastic-free packaging that will help our environment:
Eco-friendly Algae Water Bottles

Ari Jónsson was a product design student at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Jónsson designed water bottles that are made completely out of red algae powder. He exhibited these eco-friendly bottles last 2016 at DesignMarch. DesignMarch is an annual design competition held in Reykjavík, Iceland. This is a festival that brings together everything from fashion, furniture, and food design. This can save the environment because once the water inside these bottles has been consumed the bottle will start decomposing.

This was made by Avani which is based in Indonesia. This company was established in the year of 2014. They strive to be different by utilizing technology as solutions to combat the global plastic epidemic. This plant-based grocery bag is a game changer! This can solve the pollution caused by plastics. Since it’s made of cassava, this is safe not only for our environment but all of us. This can be mixed with water with no problem, or even can be eaten by animals.

Packageless shower gels, soap, shampoo bars are quite popular for beauty products nowadays. They are striving to promote not only the aesthetic and cleanliness of humans, but they also want to contribute to decreasing plastic waste.

This is not new, but more business establishments are promoting the use of cloth bags. These cloth bags are reusable and durable that could last longer. Aside from helping the environment, this can also help the business to reduce the cost of acquiring plastic bags if the majority of their customers uses a cloth bag. Cloth bags that are being sold by the grocery or malls can also be used as promotional materials that can also be an alternative for using too many tarpaulins and other plastic-based promotional materials.

My Two Cents
Business entities are doing their part to contribute to a greener planet. For those who haven’t started to consider a more efficient and eco-friendly packaging, they should start doing so.
As a consumer, we also have a responsibility to properly purchase and dispose of products that we used. Aside from choosing the best eco-friendly companies, we should also take another step on how we can contribute to a cleaner environment. The plastic waste around the globe is not 100% responsibility of the companies who manufactured the products since we are the one who used it we should our own effective and eco-friendly waste management.
